Therapy
collaborative counselling
I believe that that we work together as a team in therapy - you are the expert on your life, and I bring my knowledge and expertise on the therapeutic process. I see it as my role to be non-judgemental, accepting, and empathetic with my clients - I firmly believe that change happens when we are free to speak openly and feel heard by the person we are speaking with. I try to provide a comfortable and safe environment where my clients can feel free to talk honestly about anything that is on their minds or happening in their lives. I also see it as my role to challenge sometimes, because we all have blind spots, and to help you develop a clearer vision of your personal truth. I believe that we often develop ruts in life because of patterns we have when interacting with others. In therapy, our sessions are often a microcosm of your life in the outside world, so I might comment on patterns that I see happening with me, so that we can explore them in the here-and-now. I encourage my clients to be as open and honest with me as they can, though I acknowledge that can be difficult. It can feel unpleasant to talk in therapy. I trust that I build strong relationships with my clients where they feel safe to talk about their lives and any issues with me.
